Confession: I’ve actually been using this wardrobe for about 10 days. I started switching over from my summer wardrobe to my fall wardrobe in mid-September. I’ve been keeping it from you because there is one teeny-tiny detail that I wasn’t ready to share just yet. You see, my fall wardrobe consists largely of maternity clothes.
Yep, that’s right. I’M PREGNANT!
This is baby #3 for our little tribe, and we are all super excited! I’ll be honest – I’m a little nervous to be outnumbered. But I know our family will be that much better for it.
The blog won’t be changing focus. I’ll still be writing about simple and natural living. I may share a few posts about pregnancy and having babies, but that will not become the main focus of the blog and it will always relate back to simple and natural living.
I’ve been officially using seasonal capsule wardrobes for a year now, but this is just my second season using only 33 pieces. If you’re curious about why I’m doing this, check out this post.
Ok, so let’s get on with the fall wardrobe details.
My 33 Piece Fall Capsule Wardrobe
Let’s start with the tops. I’ve still got a few business meetings to wrap up a project this fall, so I’ve included some nicer tops along with some more casual tops. Also, temps can swing a good 30 degrees from one day to the next, so I’ve got short sleeves and long sleeves.
Left to right: long sleeve gray t-shirt / short sleeve black t-shirt / short sleeve gray graphic tee / red floral spaghetti strap blouse / chambray / short sleeve green tee
Left to right, starting at top: black and beige gauzy tunic / sleeveless ivory blouse / 3/4 sleeve striped top / black sweater / long sleeve maroon t-shirt / black and white tunic / gray sweater tunic
(as you can see, tunics are a pregnant girl’s friend)
Cardigans (because layers are your friend too).
Left to right: 3/4 beige cardi / long sleeve flowy black cardi / long sleeve mustard cardi
I’ve only got 4 bottoms here because I’m on the search for another pair of pants or a skirt that will add some more interest. I’d really love a nice pair of olive leggings or pants that could take me through winter. If you know of some (don’t forget – I need maternity), PLEASE let me know!
Left to right: boot cut jeans / skinny jeans / black leggings / black and gray maxi skirt
Yes, that is the same maxi skirt I wore this summer. I think the colors are better for colder months though, and as long as it works with my growing belly I’m going to include it.
Shoes. Full disclosure: I have also kept a pair of flip-flops in the closet to wear out in the yard. I generally don’t wear flip-flops in public this time of year (mostly because I like to use it as an excuse to stop painting my toenails), but I do wear them around the house and doing yard work.
Left to right: brown boots / black flats / leopard flats / Simple sneaks
Accessories. I almost included a bracelet, but remembered that I rarely wear a bracelet if I’m wearing long sleeves. So I threw in an extra pair of earrings.
Dream catcher scarf / stitch pattern scarf / silver teardrop earrings / silver filigree earrings / wood earrings / filigree pendent necklace / essential oil diffuser necklace
If you’re keeping count, you’ve probably noticed that this is only 31 items. I’ve got a couple of open spots in my wardrobe to start the season because I didn’t have another pair of pants or a skirt that I really liked and wanted to include. I’ve got 2 open spots for bottoms in case I come across something I love. Four bottoms won’t be enough, so those spots will get filled.
Also, that chambray will get replaced with a maternity one when the time comes. Just to let you know in case you see me wearing it on IG and think I’m cheating on my wardrobe! 😉
Speaking of Instagram, I share my outfits using my 33 piece wardrobe there. If you’re curious how I can manage with only 33 items in my wardrobe for an entire season, follow me there and look for the hashtag #lbogfallcapsule!
