It is time for me to switch out my seasonal capsule wardrobe for summer, and since I haven’t shared what’s in my capsule since last fall I thought I’d show you what I’m including this season.
If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw my list. I’m a list person. I can’t do anything without a list. (Also, if you’re curious as to how I’ll survive on such a small wardrobe, follow me on IG to see my outfits.)
I really wish I would have shared my spring wardrobe because it worked really well for me! I’m getting better at recognizing what I will actually wear and what I won’t.
In the past, I sort of did this by my own set of rules which was sort of a hybrid of closet organization and simple wardrobe methods.
But this time around, I’m going to follow the Project 333 rules. It felt a little scary when I first started this journey, simply because 33 items feels sounds like such few.
After a year of capsules, though, I have learned that 33 items is actually not that small of a wardrobe if you only include things you love and will wear.
So I’m doing it! I’m using a wardrobe that consists of 33 items for the entire summer. That is 33 items total – clothing, jewelry, accessories, and shoes – for the next 3 months. (There are things you don’t have to include, like undergarments, sleepwear, etc. Visit Project 333 for the full set of rules.)
Without further ado, here’s my summer wardrobe!
1-White Spaghetti Strap Top with Lace at Bottom | 2-Ivory Sleeveless with Cutout Pattern | 3-Basic White T-Shirt | 4-Bright Floral Pattern Sleeveless | 5-Olive Sleeveless | 6-Sorta Dressy Navy T-Shirt | 7-Casual Green T-Shirt | 8-White Button-Down | 9-Chambray | 10-Purple Tank | 11-Teal Tank | 12-Fuchsia Tank | 13-Beige Tank
I generally wear the solid color tanks at the bottom under the other shirts (button-downs, spaghetti straps, cutout pattern). Also, the white button-down is not a dress shirt. It is a lightweight slightly sheer material, so it requires something underneath, but is light enough for summer.
14-Cobalt Skinny Pants | 15-Boyfriend Jeans | 16-Skinny Jeans | 17-Black and Gray Maxi Skirt | 18-Patterned Shorts | 19-Khaki Shorts | 20-Gray Shorts
21-White Flowy Gauzy Vest-Sorta-Thing | 22-Asian Inspired Patterned Kimono
23-Lightweight White Scarf | 24-Lightweight Mint Chevron Scarf | 25-Lightweight Red Polka Dot Scarf | 26-Silver Hoop Earrings | 27-Wooden Earrings | 28-Silver Cuff Ring | 29-Sunglasses
30-Comfy White Strapped Flip Flops | 31-TOMS Ballet Flats | 32-Silver Flip Flops | 33-Gray Boat Shoes
You might have noticed I didn’t have the TOMS ballet flats on my list. I decided on those in place of the black flats. Also, again if you follow me on Instagram, you might know that I walk a construction site once a week (day job). I do not plan to wear flats or flip flops or boat shoes to the construction site! But I decided not to count my work boots because I literally only wear those on the site. I change back into “regular” shoes once I’m back in my car.
I’m actually looking forward to using this wardrobe! A simplified wardrobe can be scary at first (especially if you are used to a jamb-packed closet. Ahem, like me), but it is so freeing when you dive in. It takes very little time to decide what to wear and if you do it right (meaning, you choose items you actually love and will wear), you wear something you like every single day.
